WordPress is known for its many plugins you can use to increase functionality, increase page speed, make your website easier to use, and much more. Here are 5 of the best WordPress plugins I use when I create a website, in no particular order.
-
Breadcrumb NavXT
- This WordPress plugin helps you to create breadcrumbs on all your posts or pages. It is great because you can easily customize your breadcrumbs the way you want. It is also really useful for visitors who come to your site, it makes your site much easier to navigate and increases usability. It also is better for SEO by creating more internal linking for anchor juice.
-
Google Analytics for WordPress by MonsterInsights
- This WordPress plugin connects to your Google analytics account and is able to show you visitor information. It is very easy to setup, in just a few clicks your website will be connected to your account. After it is connected you are able to setup and enable many tracking features right from your WordPress dashboard. It also has easy to understand reporting so you can get the most out of your Analytics data.
-
Imagify
- This WordPress plugin allows you to decrease the file size of your images on your site to increase page speed. This is very good for SEO and usability, the less time a user has to wait for your page to load the more likely they will stay on your site. This plugin is great because it automatically optimizes your images and gives you three image optimization settings to choose from, Normal, Aggressive, and Ultra. It has many useful settings to such as backing up your original image and being able to automatically resize your images too.
-
Regenerate Thumbnails
- This is a very useful and powerful plugin to have when you add a new thumbnail size to your WordPress site. It allows you to regenerate all thumbnail sizes for an image or for all your images to reflect the new size. Two cases where you would use this is when you change the dimensions of an existing thumbnail size under settings > media or you change themes which use a different thumbnail size.
-
WP-Optimize
- If your website is slow this plugin could help you out significantly, it will clean up your WordPress database and decrease page load times. After sometime the database can become unorganized and bloated, so an optimized database keeps your website healthy, organized, and fast because that is where all your information is stored. Some data it will clean up is post revisions, spam comments, auto draft posts, trashed posts, unapproved comments, trackbacks, and pingbacks.
